Positivity Pins
The “Positivity Pin” Trading has been so popular at both Provincial Championships that we are expanding it to Northeast Regionals too!
What Is It?
For those not familiar with Positivity Pins, this is a great team bonding experience, and all you need are some clothes pins and art supplies. Players are to decorate a bunch of clothes pins however they would like, with a positive saying!
Once you’re in the rink, trade these pins with whoever you see – other players, coaches, fans and even event volunteers! Pin them on bags, clothes and wherever else you can safely put them. Proudly show off your collection to others and keep sharing to create a positive environment for everyone!
This may have started with Cheer, but we’re going to take it over and show everyone that Ringette is the Best Sport!

The Ringette Ontario Competition Playing Rules with the following additions and changes will govern this tournament. Ringette Ontario Suspension Rules will also be in effect. These rules will be available at each arena – please see the convenor.
Link to COMPETITION – RINGETTE ONTARIO PLAYING RULES
GENERAL RULES
- The Ringette Canada Official Rule Book shall be the Official playing rules except where otherwise specified in these rules. From U12B and up, Shot Clock Rules will apply.
- GAME SHEETS
All games will be scored using RAMP GameSheets App. All Bench Staff that will be on the bench for EACH GAME will be required to sign in using the app. In doing so you will be signing off on your player roster for each game. All coaches must have signed the electronic game sheet and verified their roster 30 mins prior to each game. TRF adjustments must be submitted by all teams to the Convenor. - GAME START TIMES
All teams must be ready to go on the ice FIFTEEN (15) minutes before the scheduled time. Games will start up to FIFTEEN (15) minutes early if the ice is available. A two-minute warm-up will be provided and starts when the referees step on the ice. Teams must be ready to go FIFTEEN (15) minutes early for all games (except for the first game of each day and semis/finals). Teams may only go on FIFTEEN (15) minutes early AFTER SLUSH TIME if the tournament Convenor, both Head Coaches, and game Officials all agree. Failure to be on the ice within 5 minutes of notification to begin the game will result in forfeiture of the game. - GOALIE INJURY
In the event of injury to a goalie, that player is allowed up to 5 minutes to recuperate from the injury or leave the ice. If an alternate goalie is already dressed, that player must immediately replace the injured goalie – no warm-up is allowed. If no alternate goalkeeper is already dressed, an additional 5 minutes is allowed to dress and warm up a replacement. If the goalie receives a match or misconduct penalty a maximum of 5 mins will be allowed to replace the goalie with an eligible player. - No horseplay in arenas. Please be respectful of posted arena rules and regulations.
- PERIOD LENGTH & STOP TIME/RUNNING TIME
All games will be 2 x 15-minute periods using stop time. The clock will run during all games where a team is leading by 7 goals or more in the 2nd period only. During this situation, the clock will run time except during penalties, timeouts or injury. If a team should close the goal differential to less than 7 goals, the clock would return to stop time, until the differential returns to 7 or more goals. - GAME DURATION
Every effort will be made for all games to be completed in their entirety, however, there may be circumstances due to injuries or other delays that a game may be curfewed.Teams will be notified before the start of the game if the game is on Zamboni time. - JERSEYS
Home teams are to wear their dark jerseys and visiting teams are the wear their white jerseys. - GRIEVANCES & PROTESTS
Questions concerning rule interpretation can be directed to the tournament Referee-In-Chief through the tournament staff at arenas. No protest or grievances will be considered regarding an official’s on-ice judgment or application of the rules, including video footage. At a Sanctioned Event, the only actions that may be protested are Ineligible Players; and Ineligible Bench Staff. In the unlikely event that there is a protest or grievance – a committee has been established to determine whether it will consider the protest and render any related decisions. All decisions of this committee will be considered final. - SITUATIONS INVOLVING ABUSE & HARASSMENT
West Ferris Ringette Association is focused on creating a positive experience for all players and we encourage a Fair Play attitude. Any person who interferes with the game or verbally abuses a PLAYER, COACH, ON-ICE OFFICIAL OR MINOR OFFICIAL, will be asked to leave the playing area, and not return. The Head Coach will be notified by an on-ice official to remove the person. If the person refuses to leave the playing area after a reasonable period, the game will be called, and the team associated with the person will forfeit the game. - BENCH STAFF
There shall be no more than five (5) persons (i.e. coaches, trainer, and/or assistants) allowed on the bench at any one time. One person must be female, 18 years or over, who is not a player on the team (18+ division exempt). - No spectators will be allowed to sit in the stands directly behind player benches at Sam Jacks Complex/West Ferris Arena.
- When a bench staff is asked to leave the game and no penalty is recorded on the game sheet, they are considered to have been assessed a misconduct penalty and they will be suspended for the next regularly scheduled game. Additional game suspensions may also be applicable, in accordance with Ringette Ontario rules.
- No music to be played on portable speakers for indoor warm-ups. There is no designated warm-up area, however due to limited space in arenas, we encourage teams to warm up outside. Warm-up will not be permitted in the lobby or dressing room hallways.
- Players should skate by the opposing bench to shake hands with the opposing team’s bench staff after shaking hands with the players.
- As per 4.1 of the Ringette Ontario Playing Rules “All match and misconduct penalties must be reported to the Tournament Committee and Ringette Ontario Director (or designated Program Coordinator) within 24 hours by both teams and before the next scheduled game – whichever is sooner. In turn, they must report to the Ringette Ontario office for tracking purposes.” More information on coaching suspensions for Misconduct penalties can be found in section 4.4 of the RO Playing Rules.
- FUNFEST
A game will consist of 2 periods – the first will be 16 minutes and the second will be 14 minutes in length or can be adjusted according to time left. There will be 2 minutes of running time, the clock stops, different players can go on the ice and when the players are set up, the clock recommences. – Format may be adjusted for available ice time.- a maximum of 1 coach per team on the ice;
- no touching of the opposition players by the coaches;
- no double shifting unless the number of players available during that game warrants and all players are used equally in double shifting;
- their own players should not be physically moved into position by the coach during playing time;
- coaches may not impede the on-ice officials;
- no score will be posted, and all players will receive the same participation award;
- Goalies: All players will rotate through the position at least once. Goalies cannot play goals in back-to-back games. They can switch from shift to shift or at half;
- Penalties shall be served by having possession of the ring awarded to the non-penalized team in the normal fashion.
